  26. This may not be your problem, but it's something I had to do some work-arounds
  27. about when I got my ISP, who is NETCOM...
  28.  
  29. Netcom uses dynamic IP addresses. While my e-mail address is....

  32. My Real Full IP address at this login is
  33. "spiercy@ix.GRN-SC-2.07.ix.netcom.com"

  35. The "ix.GRN-SC-2.07" is the dynamic alias port that the ISP provides during
  36. log-in. I Couldn't do anything at all over my TCP/IP network until I figured
  37. out this dandy little fact (a fact my ISP didn't tell me. They hawk there own
  38. DOS/WINDOWS software, so don't expect users to run into problems like this). I
  39. wrote an AREXX script in order to get me up & running, logged on to one of the
  40. AMINET mirrors using FTP, and downloaded a program called INTER_INSTALL, which
  41. was basically a series of scripts written for particular ISP's who use dynamic
  42. addressing. Now everything works painlessly for me...

  44. Since your'e able to post this message, it's possible that this is not your
  45. problem, but it's a MAYBE. Besides, I'm sure there are alot of "newbies" out
  46. there (me at the top of the heap) that could use this valuable tidbit....
